최성임은 집과 몸, 몸의 장소, 집의 자리라는 인간이라는 장소성에 대한 질문을 던지며 자신이 머무를 자리를 탐사해왔다. 일상공간에서 만난 사소한 물질에서 촉발된 사유의 운동은 사적 기억과 연합하며 수행적인 노동을 통해 작품이 되고, 전시장이라는 영토에 그의 집을 지으며 연대의 지점을 찾아왔다.
온수공간에서 열리는 개인전 <눈을 감아도 보이는 툭 툭>(Detached)은 작가의 작업에 새겨져있던 육체에 대한 모티브를 발전시켜 무대의 중심에 올린다. 눈을 감아도 보이는 기억 혹은 잔상, 청각으로 파악할 수 있는 존재에 대한 인상을 구체적인 형태로 제시한다. 세대를 연결하는 몸이라는 장소에 새겨지는 공동의 기억과 존재적 한계, 생애주기에 따른 신체적 변화와 시간의 불가역성에 대한 무력함을 인정하고 모든 현재적 사태를 넘어서는 태도를 보인다.
이번 전시에서는 과거의 생활 공간인 집을 신체의 연장으로 삼고, 집이 그 자체로 거대한 몸으로 육화하는 전환을 시도한다. 또한 사운드 작업을 통해 몸의 표면과 물질세계의 마주침에 대한 고민도 내어놓는다. 예술가로서의 삶이 흐르며 찾아오는 나이듦이 주는 의미, 생활 장소로서의 집, 세계 내에 존재하는 몸은 어떤 의미가 될 것인지에 대한 질문을 던지는 사유의 테이블에 초대하며, 시간이 몸을 통과하고 다시 또 다른 집을 지어나가며 생성의 공간을 창조해나가는 여정을 함께 하기를 바란다.

Sungim Choi explores her position while questioning the placeness of humans, encompassing home and body, the place of body, and position of home. The movement of thought triggered by mundane materials encountered in everyday space collaborates with personal memories and becomes artwork through performative labor, constructing her home within the exhibition space and finding place for solidarity.
The solo exhibition Detached held at Onsu-Gonggan brings the motif of the body which is embedded in the artist’s work, to the forefront of the stage. The memories or traces that can be seen with closed eyes and the impressions of the presence that can only be identified through hearing are presented in concrete forms. With the existential limitations and communal memories inscribed in the body as a bridge between the generations, it shows an attitude that goes beyond current circumstances and acknowledges the physical changes with age and the inevitable passage of time.
The exhibition considers the home, the past living space, as an extension of the body, attempting a transformation where the home itself becomes a large embodiment of the body. Furthermore, through soundwork, it presents contemplations on the encounter between the body's surface and the material world. Also, it invites to the table of contemplation, questioning what meaning aging as an artist brings, the significance of home as a living space, and what meaning the body existing within the world will hold. Hope the exhibition will be a journey together, where time passes through the body and builds another home, creating a space of formation.
